Library open again for in-person services

library exteriorThe Atlantic City Free Public Library resumed in-person services Tuesday, March 16. The library had halted public access to Main Library and Richmond Branch Library in December due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

“We’re excited to be able to welcome our public back inside the library,” Library Director Robert Rynkiewicz. “Personal interaction is increasingly being replaced by the Internet — especially with our current COVID-19 emergency — but our staff members miss seeing our wonderful patrons. We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces and greeting new customers.”

The library hours are 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-4:30 p.m. Main Library is Wednesday through Saturday. Richmond Branch Library is open Tuesday. The library is following state-mandated capacity limits.

Staff members and customers are required to wear masks and have their temperature checked before entering the building. They will also need to sanitize their hands once inside.

During this walkthrough phase, individuals will be given a maximum of 15 minutes to browse for materials and 30 minutes to use a public computer.

“We're hopeful this reopening is the first step toward normalcy,” Rynkiewicz said. “We expect to be able to operate with less restrictions as the year progresses if COVID cases continue to decline.”
